Review of The CV Store

The CV Store is a UK based company specialising in CV and Covering Letter writing services, as well as other aspects of careers consultancy. More information can be found at http://www.thecvstore.net

After contacting the CV store, we were quickly sent an example of there work, in the form of an actual client CV (personal information removed). If you would like to obtain a sample CV, please e-mail the CV store at enquiries@thecvstore.net.

The Company

The CV Store has been operating on-line since 2001, with a wide range of specialist skills.

From January CV’s will be available in Spanish, French and German (including translation) which is very useful for what is now a truly global marketplace.

The CV Store uses field-specific writers, from a wide range of backgrounds - including IT, Finance and the Medical profession.

The CV

The level of English, both grammar and language within the CV was excellent. It was also obvious that the CV had not been created from a stock template.

The ordering of the CV was a little different from what we are used to, with some of the personal details being left until last. However this did not detract from the impact of the CV at all.

It is worth noting that the CV Store offers a free covering letter with every CV ordered, this might be more beneficial if you ask for a more general letter, as opposed to one tailored for a specific job.

CV’s are supplied in three formats, which other services seem to miss out. Having a plain text version of your CV is crucial, especially if the recruiter uses any form of on-line application.

Pricing

The CV Store’s price range is from £25 for a Graduate CV to £80 for a specialist medical CV.

They also over a bespoke service, in which they can supply a CV on request within four hours. This service, I am informed, costs around £10 on top of the normal price for the CV.

Other Services

As well as some run of the mill services, such as covering and resignation letter writing, a CV review service is offered at the very reasonable price of £7.99. The service is not designed to promote their services, but rather provide a proof-reading/correction/suggestion service in it’s own right.

Every CV ordered also comes with 12 months of updates included. Enabling a customer to add items as there career progresses rather than pay for a complete re-write.

Conclusions

The CV Store provided us with excellent material for this review, and were very helpful in clarifying areas that wern’t clear.

Compared to other CV services, the added value services such as free updates, and free covering letters coupled with a low cost make the CV Store easy to recommend.

The CV Store also has a very comprehensive amount of Job Seeker information and tools, as well as a regularly updated blog giving free advice and careers guidance!
